Over the past month, I have had the opportunity to talk with and meet with dozens of members from across the Nation. If there is one thing I’ve learned during this time, is that we are a community. The week of July 4th finds only two state legislatures — Massachusetts and Pennsylvania — in session. There was some activity last month in Rhode Island, California and New Hampshire that you will find in this week’s state update.

Yesterday we received some good news, and given this latest development, we will be requesting your Call To Action support in the very near future. Maybe it is fitting that the news came out this week, so in the spirit of true democracy we announce the following: On Wednesday, the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Subcommittee released a copy of their Fiscal Year 2017 Appropriations proposals, which will be marked up in the Subcommittee today – July 7, 2016.
