Phew, it sure has been a busy summer for all of us and your GRC wants to thank you for all of your efforts! We know that it is not easy taking the time out of your already packed day-to-day schedule to respond to the various AACS GRC Calls to Actions, U.S. Department of Education (Department) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) comment submissions, and participate in the GE, Borrower Defense to Repayment, and other key issues webinars. But the good news is your actions are having an impact!

 

The Pennsylvania Association of Private School Administrators (PAPSA) is working with a state representative to introduce and advance freestanding legislation to assist students attending ACICS accredited schools. The bill will allow students to remain eligible for state grants and sit for state licensure exams during the 18-month period that the U.S. Department of Education provides schools to pursue and receive alternative accreditation. If your school is ACICS accredited and think similar state legislation is needed for licensure and/or state grants, please email Brian Newman at brian.carl.newman@gmail.com.

Please note that Pennsylvania is among a very small handful of states in session in the fall. Accordingly, similar bills will not be possible in most states until 2017. AACS members in Pennsylvania are encouraged to support PAPSA's Call to Action by following the instructions below.
