Government Relations

As elected officials from across the United States have been attending quadrennial presidential nominating conventions the last two weeks, it should be no surprise that only two state legislatures – Massachusetts and New Jersey – are in session this week. In Indiana, the 22-member Republican State Committee voted today to select a GOP gubernatorial candidate to replace Governor Mike Pence on this fall’s general election ballot. Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb, with Gov. Pence’s endorsement, prevailed over U.S. Representatives Susan Brooks and Todd Rokita, and state Senator Jim Tomes. Reminder: the Government Relations Committee has put out a CALL TO ACTION to the membership, asking all of you to send a letter to send to your U.S. Senators and U.S. House Representatives on the important issue of Gainful Employment.  We’ve made it easy for you: just go to www.beautyschools.org/grc/ and choose the letter that’s right for you. There is a letter that can come from you and your staff; a letter that can come from the employers of your grads; and one that focuses on Students.  Just fill out the Name, Address, and email and press send.  It’s that easy, and critical that legislators hear from owners on Gainful employment.
