AACS Actively Engaged in 2016 Borrower Defenses Negotiated Rulemaking
Over the holidays AACS received notice that our nominee — Chris Deluca — was selected to serve as the alternate negotiator representing the private, for-profit community in the 2016 Borrower Defenses Negotiated Rulemaking, which began yesterday. Prior to the first session the Department shared with the negotiators five issues papers for consideration. These materials were supplemented with an additional five issues papers presented to the negotiators yesterday morning. Your AACS Government Relations Committee has put together a group of experts to support Chris in representing our interests in these important negotiations and will be sharing more details with you and seeking your comment and feedback as the meetings progress. The 10 Issue Papers are available for your review here.

AACS Encourages You To Prepare for and Complete Two Important GE Compliance Requirements This Month
AACS wants to remind our membership the deadline for publication of the most recent GE Disclosures is Sunday, January 31, 2016. If your institution has not already begun the process of preparing to update your information, we strongly encourage you to do so sooner rather than later and to complete the process as soon as you can. We offer this recommendation because we anticipate that some time before the end of this month the Department will also provide all institutions subject to the GE regulations with their first series of GE program "Completer Lists" for review. Institutions will have just 45 days from receipt of the lists to review all of the student information and determine whether or not there are corrections or challenges required to be submitted under the new Data Collection and Appeal Solution system. AACS anticipates that this new process will be challenging for all institutions subject to the GE requirements.
