AACS would like to inform membership of recent Board changes. Karyn Laitis has recently stepped down as AACS board member with one year remaining in her term. In compliance with the Association Bylaws, the recent change in her employment status no longer qualifies her to hold a board seat. We are sad to see her step down as she contributed a great deal to AACS and the board of directors. We wish her great success in her future and hope our paths cross again soon. Thank you Karyn.

Octavia McDougle, owner of Beauty Anatomy Institute of Cosmetology and Wellness in Pompano Beach, Florida, has accepted the board approved appointment of director for the AACS Board of Directors with a term that expires in the fall of 2016.

Department of Education Provides Additional Guidance — How to Confirm Compliance with GE Reporting
Over the weekend, the U.S. Department of Education published Electronic Announcement #61 – Confirming Compliance with Gainful Employment Reporting Requirements providing additional information on how institutions verify compliance with the GE reporting requirements using the NSLDS GE Program Tracker List. Institutions are encouraged to review the entire EA but the primary takeaway is that each program must individually have the word 'YES' in its 'GE Source' column AND any value other than 'A1' in the 'Status Reason' for EACH award year (2008-2009 through 2013-2014).  For more information click here.

Stock Photography Sites Rush to the Cinemagraph Craze

Cinemagraphs are basically stylish, glossy GIFs, where very slight motion is introduced to a portion of a still image. They’ve been around for years, but have become popular in advertising more recently because of sites such as Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter, which have developed video products that are optimal for cinemagraphs. They are becoming ubiquitous on social media, and stock image agencies are looking to capitalize on its popularity. There is even a startup focusing solely on cinemagraphs — which are still photographs but with subtle movement — and it will compete with major image sites that are about to go deeper into the genre as well. Find out more details including where you can get cinemagraphs.

As an executive coach for nearly two decades, he’s worked with leaders of tiny startups and multinational corporations alike. But the core of his practice remains pretty counterintuitive: There’s no solution. No secret sauce. He doesn’t claim to have magic formulas for building teams or running meetings or tripling ROI. Instead, he’s in the business of building mindsets that can handle anything. Find out which three questions you need to ask yourself to avoid the most common leadership traps.
