Important Information in Regards to Legal Issues
As
you may know, there have been more than a dozen cases against cosmetology
schools across the country claiming that students should be paid as employees.
AACS was served with a subpoena in regards to one of these civil
lawsuits. We are not alone. In fact, PBA has received a similar subpoena.
Although we are not a party in the case, we are working with our counsel to
ensure that we fulfil our legal obligations, which may include turning over
documents, member archives, our website content and ListServe emails pertaining
to this subpoena.
AACS
is dedicated to continue giving you the resources and benefits that you need.
We want to assure you that if any of the above mentioned items are submitted and
they pertain to any of our members, you will be promptly notified. We value our
membership and understand legal issues often cause concern. Now, more than
ever, it’s important that our membership joins together and continues to
support each other.
We
hope you’ll continue to stay alert and informed. The best way to do that is to
continue taking advantage of our member communication forums. It’s also a great
time to remind you that email communication can often be misunderstood or taken
out of context. Type with caution—but not with fear. We know our members have
valuable insights with wisdom, and we hope you continue to share your expertise
with each other.
