This year’s theme is Power of One: Time to Engage. Shaunna Deal from Elaine Steven Beauty College in St Louis, MissouriThe N.F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award is co-sponsored by the American Association of Cosmetology Schools and Milady. It is a prestigious award given to one educator each year who has exhibited the most significant contribution toward upgrading professional standards of educational excellence, particularly within the areas of student involvement during the immediate past year. Nominees must be members of CEA who are currently employed, have at least three years of active employment as a cosmetology educator and can provide evidence of significant contributions to educational excellence during the past year.

July 16, 2019 – The House Education and Labor Committee, Subcommittee on Higher Education will hold a hearing on "Scaling Up Apprenticeships: Building on the Success of International Apprenticeship Models.” The AACS lobbying team will be covering the hearing for AACS and will report to the AACS Governmental Relations Committee. California For-Profit School Bills Continue to AdvanceState legislative activity remains slow during the dog days of summer. This week finds only four state legislatures – Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and North Carolina – actively meeting. AACS will however continue to keep you apprised of the latest state developments of interest to member schools. Members in the News
Stress is present throughout all workplaces in the world. It is often something that cannot be avoided, but can be properly managed. Burnout on the other hand, is less frequent, but far too prevalent. Burnout can cause the best worker to slow down in productivity and quality. ED400 – Coping with Stress and Burnout focuses on stress, burnout and many of the causes that instructors notice on a daily basis. The course will provide tips on how to appropriately handle and mitigate stressors, and how to lessen the risk of burnout occurring.
