Fearless Beauties: Treating Skin of Color with Confidence Speaker: Mary Nielsen of Fearless Beauties Date and Time Description Fearless Beauties is a movement organized by a group of estheticians who recognize that skin of color has been ignored or forgotten. This group of diverse estheticians has researched how the skin of African, Asian American, Latinx and East Indian descents are different from Caucasian skin. In this session, you will learn the difference in the anatomy of multi-ethnic skin, how to identify common skin disorders, how cultural and dietary influences affect multiethnic skin health, and how to conduct a thorough consultation with a multi-ethnic client.

Date and Time Description Today's students thrive on the ability to create, curate, and invent, followed by showcasing their creation to the world through a digital platform. Does your curriculum address this need? This session will provide participants with a series of tools and ideas to revamp their curriculum, so you can teach your students how to build their digital brand. You’ll learn how to help students connect to information through strategic projects, initiatives and lesson plans, all focused on developing their ability to showcase their journey on a digital platform. The N.F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award sponsored by Milady is a prestigious award given to one educator each year who has exhibited the most significant contribution toward upgrading the professional standards of educational excellence, particularly within the areas of student involvement. Eligibility Criteria Nominees must be active members of CEA who are currently employed, with at least three (3) years of active employment as a cosmetology educator and can provide evidence of significant contributions to educational excellence during the immediate past year. While Milady is proud to be the primary sponsor of this award, it is not required for nominees to teach using Milady-based curriculum in their school. ALL INSTRUCTORS from ALL SCHOOLS are welcome to apply as long as they meet the criteria. The submission process has been made easier. Applications can be submitted online, including videos. The week leading up to Easter and Passover finds only 32 state legislatures actively meeting. Wednesday was the deadline for introducing bills in Louisiana’s House and Senate. As always, AACS will keep you apprised of the latest state legislative developments of interest to member schools. California’s Assembly Higher Education Committee favorably reported seven bills last week that would tighten regulation of private postsecondary schools, including cosmetology schools.
