Arizona HB 2011 will soon be debated on the House floor after the House Rules Committee voted 9 to 0 on Monday that the bill is constitutional and in proper form. As previously reported, the bill proposes to exempt from licensure "persons who dry, style, arrange, dress, curl, hot iron or shampoo and condition hair if the service does not include the application of reactive chemicals to permanently straighten, curl or alter the structure of the hair."
Meanwhile, in Virginia, the House of Delegates unanimously passed a bill Monday that exempts persons working in a barbershop or cosmetology salon whose duties are confined to blow drying, cleansing, and styling hair from being required to obtain an occupational license. HB 790 has not yet received a Senate committee referral.

At the 2018 School Leaders Summit, we will shed light on areas for improvement in the Beauty and Wellness Education Industry. The culmination of the 2018 School Leaders Summit will be a day spent on Capitol Hill where we will come face to face with members of Congress and their staff to discuss the critical issues facing our schools.
