On every team, there are only two types of members: culture builders and culture killers. Who’s who on your team as we head into a tumultuous 2018? I believe it’s impossible to be "culture-neutral" when you’re a member of an organization, a department staff, an athletic squad, a family, a community, even a choir or a band. Any behavior or performance that doesn’t contribute positively to the pursuit of a team’s goals compromises its functionality and, consequently, its ability to achieve those goals. So every team members falls into one of two camps: culture builder or culture killer.

The beginning of January is the unofficial start of the state legislative season.  Between now and March, 46 states will convene legislative sessions.  Only four state legislatures – Montana, Nevada, North Dakota and Texas – will not be convening in 2018.  This week alone 13 states, including California and Missouri, are beginning their 2018 legislative sessions.  Most will adjourn for the year before Memorial Day.  During this period of intense state legislative activity, AACS will be providing weekly updates in the WINK to keep you apprised of the latest developments of interest to member schools.

During our Annual Convention in Las Vegas, we were thrilled to reveal the formation of our political action committee (AACS PAC). As we continue to build a modern association, we want to keep you fully informed about our work and we’d like to share more information about what it means to utilize such a valuable tool to advance our advocacy.

We’ve designed these webinars to help you understand how the creation of our PAC takes us into the future, and, we invite you to learn about the work that AACS PAC can do on your behalf—but, we need your help to get there.  Please join us for one of our webinars to learn how you can be a part of our efforts.

• Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 1 p.m. (EST)
• Tuesday, January 23, 2018 1 p.m. (EST)

The webinar content for both dates will cover:
• How PACs operate
• Guidelines for PAC participation—what to expect as School Owner and Partner Members
• Benefits of a PAC

We invite anyone within your corporate leadership with managerial and decision-making abilities for your company to join us on this call. This person may also be the corporate representative with whom AACS normally conducts business activities with. The information to be shared can only be acted upon firstly by your company’s leadership—those who have decision making abilities to authorize AACS PAC to send communications to your employees. By position, most likely those that fit this definition are those with titles matching or similar to CEO, COO, CFO, President, Vice-President, and the like.

The ACE Grant Program is a marketing tool available only to AACS Members aimed at increasing your student enrollment. When your school pledges a tuition discount of $500-$1000 to eligible students, AACS will send you daily leads with prospective student names, phone numbers and email addresses. This complimentary program is promoted through different mediums including newspapers, magazines, internet, salons, high school counselors, and other industry partners. This small recruitment cost can produce a steady stream of students who may have never found your school otherwise.
