GRC News
AACS State Relations Advisor Brian Newman addressed the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology during their 2017 Annual Convention in Charleston, West Virginia. He provided a brief overview of AACS’ state relations program, discussed 2017 state legislative trends, and highlighted a few federal items including the FTC’s Economic Liberty Taskforce and the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Taskforce of interest to the group. Additionally, he requested that state boards collect information on apprenticeships – including licensure exam passage rates and renewal rates – so any future policy making in this area is data based.
