Yesterday we wrapped up the 2017 CEA & Annual Convention, and our educators and admissions teams are returning to their schools refueled and passionate about the new techniques and methods they learned over the course of the event. Keep your eyes peeled for photos of the weekend, and a recap of the event from our leaders.

For those of you who missed it, we also announced the dates for the 2018 convention – so you have plenty of time to make your plans to be there. By popular demand, we will again be hosting next year’s event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas – July 14-17, 2018!

The first 75 people who pre-register for the 2018 CEA & AMP Annual Convention will be receiving 20% off the ticket prices when registration opens. There are a few of these spots left – so pre-register today! Email Ermalisa Jackson at ermalisa@beautyschools.org to lock-in that discount before all the pre-registration spots are gone!

Serving as a Director is one of the most important ways that you can support and sustain AACS. Our Directors have the responsibility to provide foresight, oversight, and insight for the Association; to serve as our primary ambassadors and advocates; and to be the conscious voice of our Members. In other words, our Board of Directors should reflect the highest aspirations of our businesses, our students, and of our industry.

It is our pleasure to announce that the nomination period for the election of 4 (four) Owner Member and 1 (one) Associate Member seats on the AACS Board of Directors is now open.

For your convenience, included here are two links—the Board Nominations Application Form, and, a link to a short video providing an Introduction to AACS Board Service, which addresses a few frequently asked questions. Nominations will be accepted through July 28th, 2017. Thank you for your ongoing dedication and support of AACS.

GRC News
The third week of July finds seven state legislatures actively meeting. As 2017 state legislative activity has waned considerably – at least for the remainder of the Summer – this update will focus on recent state regulatory or rule-making activity of interest to AACS member schools.
In the State of Washington, the Department of Licensing has proposed amended rules "for schools to clarify requirements for initial school licensure, facilities, school closure, school catalogs, enrollment contracts, and cancellation and refund policies. The proposed language also updates language by adding the words hair design and master esthetician throughout the chapter to be consistent with RCW 18.16 [state law]."
