Connecticut Bill Would Establish Esthetician Licensure in All 50 States

The last full week of April finds four state legislatures – Arizona, Arkansas, North Dakota and Washington – scheduled to adjourn before the end of the weekend. Additionally, Nevada’s crossover deadline, by which bills needed to be passed by their chamber of origin to remain viable, occurred on Tuesday. During this critical period, AACS will keep you apprised of the latest state legislative developments to member schools. 

Connecticut HB 6742 has been cleared by the Legislative Commissioner’s Office for consideration on the House floor. As currently drafted, the measure would establish licensure for estheticians and eyelash technicians effective July 1, 2020. On or after January 1, 2020, individuals seeking to become a licensed esthetician must complete a 600-hour course of instruction and pass a written licensure exam.
