Oregon’s Higher Education Coordinating Commission conducted a rulemaking hearing last week on proposed cosmetology curriculum updates. Specifically, minimum training requirements for hair design programs will be reduced from 1,450 hours to 1,100 hours between April 1 and July 1, 2019. A separate requirement of 250 hours of career development, and safety and sanitation instruction, would also be eliminated by the rule.
