California Aims to Clarify Apprentice Supervision

In California, SB 547 was amended last week to include language clarifying the supervision required of a cosmetology, barbering, skin care, nail care or electrology apprentice.  The bill has been re-referred to the Assembly Appropriations Committee, which has scheduled an August 30th hearing on the measure.

Section 7332 of California Business and Professions Code currently requires "an apprentice is any person who is licensed by the board to engage in learning or acquiring a knowledge of barbering, cosmetology, skin care, nail care, or electrology, in a licensed establishment under the supervision of a licensee approved by the board."
