Your AACS Government Relations Committee continues to fight every day for the future of our students and schools. The new Administration and continuing Republican-controlled Congress provide us with new opportunities to "repeal and replace" harmful regulations developed and implemented over the past eight years. However, it will take time to unwind, unravel and undo the complex web of provisions that are adversely affecting your students and schools—we will still need to be prepared to engage in discussions/negotiations on more equitable reforms to higher education policy. The good news is that both Congress and the Administration are listening to our requests, have begun to take actions in support of our future and are likely to do even more once the key posts are filled within the Department of Education and Congress begins to develop and deliberate on the next series of additions, revisions and rescissions to the Higher Education Act.
