Update from AACS Search Committee

Hopefully, everyone had a chance to watch Jim Cox’s video message to the membership on January 29 announcing his retirement plans and our plan to begin the search for his replacement.  A search committee has been appointed to fill the Executive Director position upon Jim’s retirement this summer. The committee is comprised of the following: Sandra Bruce, Board Director, Committee Chair; Anthony Civitano, Board VP; Lynelle Lynch, Board Secretary; and Ray Testa, Past-President.

We are excited to report that more than six dozen resumes have been received to date either through the AACS call for applicants (January 29) or the job posting on ASAE, which launched February 10.  A large number of resumes were quite impressive with candidates displaying combined skills of association management and advocacy. An email acknowledgement went out to each applicant to make them aware of process and let them know we anticipate a four-month timeline for completion.

The Search Committee, using a combination of resume review and Survey Monkey scoring, narrowed the applicants down to nine for the first round of telephone interviews. We are delighted to say that five of the nine interviewed extremely well and have accepted invitations to interview in person on March 17.

While there is understandably some anxiety during times of transition, the Search Committee is very optimistic we will have a solid candidate in place who will be able to pick up where Jim Cox left off and lead this Association through the changes we’re experiencing.  We look forward to introducing our new Executive Director to you at both CEA and AACS Annual later this year. We hope to see you there!
