Last week, immediately following enactment of the Bipartisan Budget Act, AACS sent separate letters to Congress urging Senators and Representatives to take two specific steps to delay implementation of the Gainful Employment regulations. AACS' letter called upon Members of Congress to contact the leaders of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees within forty-eight hours to remind them of the important inclusion of different, but similar, provisions delaying implementation of Gainful Employment regulations contained in both the House and Senate mark ups of the Fiscal Year 2016 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations bills and urging the inclusion of the more favorable Senate provision – delaying implementation until two years after the completion of the pending reauthorization of HEA – in the development, consideration, and enactment of any final Appropriations bill.

The letter went on to request that  your elected officials contact the Education Committee leadership expressing their support for elimination of the provision in the development of the pending reauthorization – while also considering more equitable and appropriate reforms to be applied equally to all institutions of higher education.
