Blow Drying Deregulation Bill Reintroduced in Arizona

Arizona State Senator Michelle Ugenti-Rita (R-Scottsdale) introduced a blow drying and hair styling deregulation bill earlier this week. SB 1401 would exempt from licensure “persons who dry, style, arrange, dress, curl, hot iron or shampoo and condition hair if the service does not include the application of reactive chemicals to permanently straighten, curl or alter the structure of the hair.” The bill is similar to HB 2011 which Senator Ugenti-Rita introduced last year while serving in the state’s House of Representatives.
