Florida Representative Halsey Beshears (R) introduced a 2018 occupational licensure reform bill – HB 15 – last week that includes barbering and cosmetology provisions identical to those in HB 7047. As we reported earlier this year, Florida’s House of Representatives passed HB 7047 by a vote of 86 to 30 in April, but the bill died after the Senate approved a strike all amendment.
HB 15 would reduce the number of hours of training for barbers and restricted barbers from 1,200 to 600 for barbers and from 1,200 to 325 for restricted barbers. Read more about this bill and others in this week’s State Relations Update.
