In Arizona, the July 14th issue of state’s Administrative Register includes a notice of proposed rule-making to implement SB 1130. This bill, signed into law in March, establishes a 1,000-hour hairstylist license. It also reduces the number of training hours required for cosmetology instructors from 650 to 350, and aesthetics instructors from 500 to 350.
The proposed rule revises the training requirements for aesthetics, cosmetology, hairstyling, or nail technology instructors by eliminating defined hour requirements for "orientation and Arizona laws and rules, "theory, preparation, and practice curriculum development," and "classroom and clinic oversight."
