Rhode Island’s legislature adjourned for the year just before the holiday weekend. Before doing so, they passed legislation that reduces the number of hours of instruction required to obtain a hairdresser's and cosmetician's license from 1,500 to 1,200 hours. The House unanimously passed S0194 by a vote of 70 to 0 and the Senate unanimously passed H5488 by a vote of 36 to 0. These identical companion bills have been transmitted to Governor Gena Rainmondo (D) for signature in to law.
