Possible New Regulations in Ohio and Gainful Employment in California

In California, AB 1611 would require the Bureau for Private Post Secondary Education to establish a standard prohibiting an institution from enrolling new students who are using specified student loans for any program offered by the institution in which fewer than 70 percent of graduates of that program are graduates employed in the field, as redefined by the bill’s provisions. AB 1619 seeks to preserve the gainful employment debt-to-earnings ratios regardless of Congressional or executive branch action.
