A Kentucky bill – HB 272 – reducing the hours of instruction required for an esthetician license from 1,000 to 700 remains pending in the Senate. In Idaho, HB 139 makes several changes to current law including reducing the course of instruction for cosmetology from 2,000 hours to 1,600 hours, and reducing the course of instruction for barber-stylists by 200 hours to 1,600 hours. In Montana, HB 393 proposes to reduce the course of study required for a barbering license from 1,500 to 1,100 hours. For cosmetology, the measure proposes a school term not less than 1,500 hours, which is a 500-hour reduction from current law.
