Changes in the BOMA BC office

It’s hard to imagine BOMA BC without Sarah Jones.

Over the past 20 years, Sarah’s been at the heart of so much of what we do. From managing our showstopper events like the Christmas Lunch, Golf Tournament and Awards Gala, to running our mentorship program and education sessions, Sarah is synonymous with BOMA for so many members. She’s roped in hundreds of volunteers to help out with events and created wonderful experiences for our members to come together and connect with each other.

The New Professionals group wouldn’t exist without Sarah’s initiative to create an opportunity for newcomers to the industry to network with and learn from each other. She was also a key part of launching the BOMA Go Green certification program, now internationally recognized as BOMA BEST®.
Sarah always has a smile on her face whether taking care of last-minute technical glitches at a luncheon or wrangling a group of tired skiers on to the bus back to Vancouver. Did you know that Sarah started her career working for the RCMP? That could be why she is so calm under pressure!

In the office, Sarah has been an invaluable source of BOMA history and ready to help out with any project. She’s brought a great sense of humour and commitment to all she does. Her love of dancing, spicy foods and cocktails is only exceeded by her love for and dedication to her daughter.

They say a change is as good as a rest, so Sarah has decided to shake things up and move into a new role at the Mechanical Contractors Association of BC. Kiomi Lutz will now be our Senior Manager, Events and Member Services taking on events and education. We are also hiring a new Marketing and Communications Coordinator who we hope will start in the coming weeks.

We will all miss Sarah greatly at BOMA BC and we wish her all the very best in her new challenges. Let’s raise a glass to Sarah at the Boat Cruise on September 16.

A message from Sarah:

"Twenty-one years. It's been an amazing journey! From getting stuck in hotel freight elevators to golf cart near-misses, and rounding up members to get them back to Vancouver after skiing in Whister, there have been a lot of interesting times! The anticipation and excitement setting up for big events like the golf tourney and Christmas Luncheon. My heart swelling with pride when anyone I know walks on stage to accept an award. After-parties.The after-parties' after-parties. Casual chats in the office. Coffees and lunches with BOMA members. Attending two 'Real Estate Cruises at Sea' to Alaska and Mexico. Attending BOMEX in Toronto, Montreal and Newfoundland, getting to know awesome people across the country. Committee meetings that made me question 'How did I get to be so lucky to land this job?'. BOMA has given me so much and I'll be forever grateful.

Thank you to Paul and Damian for believing in me, and to Kiomi, Muneesh and Tracy who have been amazing to work with. Thank you BOMA members for being so incredible and making this job so hard to leave behind."
