BC Hydro Energy Manager Program changes and training plan

Among the changes is a doubling of the incentive for property management to $300,000 and BC Hydro will now pay 100% (up to $0.15/sq ft) for continuous optimization projects. Full details in documents below.

Updates to program Leaders in Energy Management: Commercial: 

FY21 call for projects:

  • Extended from the current March 31, 2020 date to September 30, 2020

FY22 call for projects timelines adjusted:

  • October 2020 to March 2021: Government & Health Care
  • October 2020 to January 2021: Retail, Hospitality and Property Management
  • December 2020 to March 2021: Municipalities, Advanced Education and K-12

Adjustment to annual customer cap incentive:

  • Health Care, Education and Government Sectors: From current $300,000 cap to unlimited
  • Retail, Hospitality and Property Management: From current $150,000 to $300,000 cap

Updates on NEW Energy Conservation Measures:

  • LED Street Lighting Controls are an eligible measure
  • Network Lighting Controls are still accepting pilot projects
  • Power Management Software pilot is currently on hold due to COVID-19 but will resume once restrictions have been lifted

Lower Project Threshold 

  • Threshold adjusted to 25,000 kWh, down from 50,000 kWh

Updates to Continuous Optimization:

Recommissioning Updates:

  • 100% funding up to $0.15 / sq. ft. now available
  • Direct-to-vendor payment option
  • One payment at the end of implementation
  • Allows buildings that did not participate in Round 1 offer
