Japanese Beetle: Temporary transfer station closing Oct. 15

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is reminding the public about the Japanese beetle regulated area movement controls in place in Vancouver and the changes that will happen October 15.

  • The movement of rooted plants and soil out of the regulated area is restricted year round.
  • The movement of above-ground plant parts out of the regulated area is restricted between June 15 and October 15, which is the flight period of the adult beetles.
  • A temporary transfer station located at 301 West 1st Avenue (West 1st Avenue and Wylie Street) will take green yard waste until October 15th, 2018 - note new hours, open Monday to Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

For information about the regulated area for Japanese beetle and current movement restrictions in place in Vancouver, or to get a movement certificate to move these regulated materials out of the regulated area, please visit the CFIA’s website.
