June Lunch and Learn: Integral Building Approach

June 15, 2017

BOMA New York would like to extend a thank you to Jeff Hodges of Siemens, for his presentation, and our members that attended this month’s Lunch and Learn. Focused on the many ways to reduce operating and construction costs by integrating various building systems, Hodges led a lively group through the past, present and future of the integral building approach. Hodges provided many creative solutions for reducing the complexities and costs associated with building management systems, from automating the control room, to creating a simpler user interface, to automatically managing air pressure, chillers and lighting. As a reminder, anyone attending a BOMA/NY Lunch & Learn will earn 1 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) point for each hour (60 minutes) of seminar attendance.

June Seminar: High Rise Preparedness in an Uncertain World

June 22, 2017

At the June 22 Seminar, High-Rise Preparedness in an Uncertain World, Joseph Pfeifer, Chief of Counterterrorism and Emergency Preparedness for the FDNY discussed actions to take in times of distress. Through his career, Chief Pfeifer has commanded some of the largest disasters in New York City history, serving as the first Chief at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, playing a major command role during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and aiding in NYC’s response efforts to fight Ebola. Chef Pfeifer is a perfect example of heroism, and his presentation greatly impacted our attendees. We are so appreciative of Chief Pfeifer to taking the time to help make sure your buildings are as safe as can be.
