The Builders Scholarship Foundation's sole annual golf outing fundraiser was a grand success as we added $36,000 to our scholarship award pool for future college students studying civil, mechanical, environmental engineering and/or construction management at Midwestern universities.
 
 
   
The Builders Association implemented the new Construction Leadership Council (CLC) for under-40 industry professionals earlier this year. Two networking sessions have been held with future programs in the works, thanks to the newly installed Steering Committee.

The Builders Association is proud to have several of its programs featured in last month's successful launch of Chicago Construction News, a bi-monthly magazine with a weekly newsletter that delivers news, analysis and networking opportunities to Chicago's ACE community.
 
There are many informative AGC electronic newsletters that you may subscribe to as a benefit of your membership in the Builders Association. These cover a broad range of topics that certainly pertain to every department within your company.
 
At a recent Construction Industry Forum the attendees briefly discussed the expected increase of veterans returning to the workforce. Last Tuesday Governor Rauner signed into law an act allowing private employers the ability to give preference to veterans when hiring new employees.

The Builders Education & Training Foundation will present Unit 7 of the Lean Construction Education Program on October 15th. This six-hour course, Problem-Solving Principles and Tools, is limited to 24 participants.
 
 
   
Our members routinely attend this AGC building division conference and walk away with a wealth of information to improve their businesses. This year's BuildCon is scheduled from October 7-9 in San Diego.
 
The AGC will host a webinar on August 25th based on industry application of Paul Akers' book on How to Grow People and Build a Lean Culture.
 
 
   
The submission period is officially open for college sophomores and juniors to apply for our scholarship awards which are funded solely through our summer golf outing. Students studying construction management or civil/environmental/mechanical engineering at one of 27 accredited Midwestern universities are eligible for this $4,000 per year scholarship.
