Industry News
An important election is right around the corner, with the Governor’s race being the most high-profile. The construction industry has joined forces to bring this race to the forefront. Builders Association and the Illinois Mechanical Specialty Contractors Association (IMSCA) are hosting a Governors night on September 18th to hear the candidates’ positions in person.

Construction numbers are up in the Chicago area and projections are positive. A recent Crain’s Chicago article stated 2013 was the third straight year of a rising volume of signed contracts. In the thirteen county region around Chicago, there was $8.5 billion worth of development deals in 2013. This is 16.5% higher than 2012 and 44% higher than 2010. While work IS picking up, it is also agreed that it will be a slow return to pre-crash numbers. Either way, it’s encouraging to see some numbers that verify what we have been witnessing in the Chicagoland area.

The AGC's DataDIGest emphasizes most metros added construction jobs in June, and second-quarter employment costs stay mild.
