FRM 490-QUALITIES, CHARACTERISTICS & HABITS OF THE BEST FOREMEN

Learn more about manipulating graphics, importing spreadsheets, enhancing a slide show and additional printing features. This course will also cover creating organizational charts; adding animation to pictures; enhancing movement between slides; changing formats and printing thumbnail sketches of each slide.

CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTING FUNDAMENTALS: PRICE

This is the first in a series of three Ogletree Deakins seminars covering three important construction contracting fundamentals: price, scope, and time. This seminar will address several contracting topics that impact price:

  • determining the cost of the work in cost- plus contracting;
  • lump sum general conditions;
  • contingency;
  • allowances;
  • matching design-build criteria to price;
  • pricing prescriptive, performance, and
  • hybrid specs; and
  • conditional payment clauses.

MGT 290-CONSTRUCTION SELLING

During this seminar, you will gain a better understanding of what characteristics make a successful salesperson. You will learn about account management and where to put resources to improve your chances for winning projects as well as understanding who the decision makers are, and who you should be selling to. You will also learn what it takes to bring value to a general contractor and to an owner and discuss opportunity reviews and how to differentiate your bid from your competition, and how to bid less but win more work. We will also cover how to sell value engineering, change orders and extras and how to improve a project’s overall profit.

MGT 502- ENGINEER LUNCH: ILLINOIS ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE

The new Illinois Energy Conservation Code went into effect on Jan.1, 2016, and we are now following the IECC 2015 statewide. There are many changes and additions compared to the previous IECC 2012 code. This seminar will summarize many of those key changes for commercial building types. The focus will be on HVAC systems. Some of the major changes include:

  • Minimum equipment efficiencies
  • Economizer thresholds
  • Economizer dampers, controls and settings
  • Multi-stage equipment requirements
  • Multi-speed fan requirements
  • Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV)
  • Boiler plant staging and control
  • VAV control requirements

FRM 140-A FOREMAN’S FIELD GUIDE TO DEVELOPING YOUR WORKFORCE

When we can develop a group of individuals to perform like a team, great things can happen. In A Foreman’s Field Guide to Developing Your Workforce, Nic will walk your foremen and supervisors through how to develop their team for long-term success. As natural mentors on the jobsite, it is up to the foremen and supervisors to develop their crew to be the next leaders of the industry. In this program, your supervisor/foreman will learn:

  • The 4 Core Competencies lacking in most of the workforce entering the industry today
  • How to develop those competencies within your team while on the job
  • How to develop each team member so everyone communicates on a higher level
  • The tips, tricks, tactics and techniques a foreman and or supervisor must master to effectively lead in today’s market
