We recently mailed all of our members the Winter/Spring 2015 Catalog for the MCA’s Construction Education Institute which lists numerous upcoming construction-related webinars and classes. The programs and schedules are explained in this catalog; the cost per in-seat course is $100. To register, please call our office at (773) 444-0465 or email Erika Ficht as you will need to register through the Builders Association.

BIM (also named BIM 101)
Subcontractors and Their Contracts (MGT 200)
10 Fundamental Thoughts on Jobsite Productivity (PMR 100)
Estimating Techniques (EST 100)

The Fall Protection and HAZCOM (mastery Inc.) webcast costs $30 per user.  Please contact us for registration and login information.

A new webcast/podcast "Team of Experts" series is now available from the CEI for our members as well. The first one is
Maximizing Surety Credit. Securing a surety bond is becoming easier as the market improves, but the bond market is still very slow. In this CEI webinar, Dan Horton, vice president of Risk Advisory Solutions for The Horton Group, is just one of the industry leaders featured in MCA’s Team of Experts webcasts covering topics essential to staying ahead in today’s construction market.

In his webcast Horton addresses the key components for securing a surety bond:
• Necessary financial information
• Disclosures
• Preferred accounting methods
• Use a working capital line of credit responsibly

"The ideal scenario is to have a working capital line of credit and never use it," Horton said. "That might not be realistic, so the second best option is to use it for short-term borrowing purposes. That is the intent of a working capital line of credit."
