Our very first Chicagoland AGC Spring Summit is just over two weeks away. Join us on Wednesday, May 16 at Maggiano's in Oak Brook. Registration will begin at 11:30, with the luncheon and program starting at noon. The event will feature a presentation on the importance of company culture in the construction industry, honor this year’s Safety Award winners, and provide an opportunity to network with other industry professionals.

How strong is your company culture? In a recent Hays Recruiting report, 34% of construction professionals said culture was the reason they left their job and 47% of job seekers said it is the reason they are leaving their current job. This year’s program will give you valuable insight on the role company culture plays in the construction industry and ideas on how to strengthen yours.

The presenters, Peggy Newquist and Michaelann Agoranos, are the co-founders of Constructing Opportunity, an organization that provides leadership development and mentoring programs, diversity awareness and people skills training, specifically geared toward the needs of the construction industry. Together, the team brings 55 years of industry experience.

Newquist holds a BS in Construction Engineering and an MS in Construction Management and Agoranos holds a BA in Architectural Studies and an MBA. Both presenters hold prominent leadership positions with the with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).

As an advocate for safe construction performance, the Chicagoland AGC operates our Safety Award program to recognize General and Specialty contractors for outstanding safety performance. Through the program, firms of similar size compete for awards based on incident rates and an award that honors the most improved safety record. We look forward to honoring this year’s recipients at the Spring Summit luncheon.
