The topic for March is Addictions and Mental Illness - Working with Co-occuring Disorders. The institute also houses a variety of resources available for free download, such as checklists and fact sheets about mental health topics. The BC School Counsellor's Association 2019 conference will be held at the Pacific Gateway Hotel October 24 to 25, 2019. The invitation for presenters has been sent. If you missed yours and are interested in presenting a workshop at the conference, be sure to visit the conference website and submit your abstract now. The conference team is looking for presenters with knowledge and expertise in trauma. Share your learning about ACEs, your experiences and successes with building a trauma-informed team at your school, or other topics related to the theme of trauma. Then, join us for two days of networking and learning.

Just What the Doctor Ordered: The Insider's Guide to Getting into Medical School in Canada is the first new book for Canada on the subject in 10 years. Author Christine Fader shares her insights about the medical school application and interview process and strategy tips for current and future applicants. Of particular relevance to BC counsellors is the chapter and advice throughout the book for high school students.
