ASSOCIATION UPDATES

Happy Holidays!

As we approach the end of 2022, take the opportunity to reflect on some of your personal and professional accomplishments this year.   They are a testament to the hard work and dedication you put into achieving your goals.  Earlier this year, the board of directors and staff worked diligently to assist with the transition of the organizational name change from Atlantic States Rural Water and Wastewater Association to Connecticut Rural Water and Wastewater. This was not an easy feat.  During the transition period, the association was held together by a few phenomenal people, but Diane Johnson in particular deserves to be recognized for her efforts.

Diane recently retired on Dec. 2 as the association’s Wastewater Technician, after serving in her capacity for 14 years.  She was a valuable member of the ASRWWA/CTRWWA team, and her presence and expertise will be missed by NRWA, CTRWWA, and the wastewater systems to which she provided training and technical assistance.   I am thankful to Diane for her service as she was an invaluable asset to me during my onboarding process to the organization. On behalf of CTRWWA and the board of directors, please help me salute Diane Johnson as she begins the next chapter in her life.

We are hiring!  If you know of anyone interested in working for CTRWWA, please go to Careers — Connecticut Rural Water & Wastewater Association (ctrwwa.org) to learn how to apply for the posted positions.

Last week, the Board of Directors, myself, and Vern Steel, NRWA Deputy CEO, met at the Suffield WPCA to discuss the State Association’s new strategic plan.  Some of the proposed contents include a new mission statement, four strategic goals, with multilayered supporting ideas under each goal. The board needs to officially vote to adopt the new plan, and more information will come in January’s edition.
