Adherence to immunosuppressive therapy is crucial for successful outcomes in solid organ transplantation. Tacrolimus intra-patient variability (%CV) is a validated marker of adherence and has been associated with graft outcomes. Health literacy (HL), a modifiable factor, may influence this variability, but its role remains unexplored.

Most studies on socioeconomic factors in liver transplantation (LT) rely on national databases without considering regional characteristics. This study uniquely investigated how educational attainment, income, and insurance status simultaneously impact early readmission and graft survival among LT recipients at a single center in Ohio, accounting for county-level characteristics.

This study reports early outcomes of a simplified direct procurement technique for donation after circulatory death (DCD) heart transplantation without normothermic regional perfusion. Five transplants were successfully performed, with all recipients showing normal graft function postoperatively and no evidence of rejection during short-term follow-up. The approach, which uses cold blood perfusion and preservation solution without reanimation, proved feasible and logistically efficient. Findings suggest this technique may be a cost-effective alternative to existing methods, supporting its potential role in expanding the DCD donor pool.

International guidelines do not consider moderate or severe obesity to be contraindications to kidney transplantation, but clinical practice suggests otherwise. This study sought to evaluate the likelihood of kidney transplantation in patients with moderate or severe obesity and how that likelihood compared to patients with other risk factors.
