In “Brushstrokes of Hope”, we will delve into the intricate relationship between creativity and emotional well-being, highlighting how art can serve as a vital tool for healing, connection, and resilience. 

Participants will be able to:
» List three key factors contributing to suicidal ideation among individuals
» Identify 5 key skills in assessing for suicide risk
» Create a basic safety plan for a client with active suicidal ideation

Whether you are a mental health professional, a caregiver, or someone intersection of art and healing, this session will provide valuable insights and practical strategies for supporting someone experiencing suicidal ideation.

Everyone is welcome to attend. The session is discounted for AATA Members and FREE for AATA Student Members. Participants may earn 2 CE credits.

Attending the Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon? Join editorial members of Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association on Oct. 9, 11 - 11:50am.

Led by Journal Editor-in-Chief Emily Nolan, Theresa Van Lith, James Bulosan, Sheila de la Peña, Sojung Park, and Gretchen Miller, the session is open to aspiring and seasoned authors to entertain questions about the publication process, alleviate misconceptions, and offer advice to authors. Participants are encouraged to identify knowledge from their practices to make notable contributions to the art therapy literature.
