ANSI is now accepting public comments for the reaffirmation of ANSI/APSP/ICC-8 2005 (R2013) American National Standard Model Barrier Code for Residential Swimming Pools, Spas, and Hot Tubs. This standard establishes layers of protection for young children against the potential for drowning and near-drowning in residential swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs by limiting or delaying their access.

PHTA has been working with members and interested parties to monitor and provide information on the enforcement of the US Department of Energy’s General Service Lamp (GSL) Definition Rule and Backstop Rule, published in 2022. As of January 1, 2023, companies are prohibited from manufacturing or importing GSL’s that do not comply with these Rules. However, noncomplying GSL’s can still be distributed and sold until August 1, 2023.
