With unlimited national, local, and international exposure opportunities and industry recognition, the International Awards of Excellence is the one design competition you can’t afford to miss!

GENESIS® instructors Skip Phillips, Master CBP and Kate Wiseman, MLA shared their tips for integrating a pool with the landscape in the latest issue of Turf Magazine. With so many homeowners adding a pool to their outdoor space, pool contractors and landscapers have had to work more closely together than ever before.

"No water vessel will look good without great landscaping," Phillips says. "The water vessel's responsibility is to reflect. If the landscaping isn't taken into consideration, the primary purpose of the pool is gone."

In our newest PHTA Member Deep Dive, Mark Thompson of Absolute Pool & Spa Care shares his plans to create alternative employment options, support his local community, and strengthen the pool industry. To Thompson, a career in the pool industry should be seen as just as viable a career path as trades like plumbing or automotives. He believes elevating that perception is not only what the pool industry deserves but also would be good for business.

STANDARDS AND CODES

In January 2023, the US Department of Energy (DOE) published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on General Service Lamps. PHTA staff and members participated in a DOE public meeting regarding this Notice on February 1. PHTA is soliciting feedback from members to submit public comments prior to the March 27, 2023 deadline. Any questions can be directed to Nicholas Capezza, PHTA Program Director of Codes and External Standards, at ncapezza@phta.org.

We are always looking for experts to join the PHTA Standards Consensus Committee! It's important to have a variety of perspectives, such as those from public health officials, architects, engineers, code officials, consultants, and product manufacturers. We review SCC applications on a rolling basis, so fill one out whenever you're ready.
