Don't let your peers' amazing work go unnoticed! Today is the final day to nominate someone for the following awards: Builder of the Year (residential and commercial), Service Professional of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Young Professional of the Year.

Winners of the PHTA Awards of Excellence are honored in the October issue of AQUA Magazine, as well as in-person during the PHTA Awards of Excellence Reception at PSP/Deck Expo in November. Don't miss out on this opportunity to have your achievements recognized by the pool, spa, and hot tub industry—and beyond!

No project is too small. With our new categories this year, your projects will be competing against projects of similar size and scope. If you haven't thought about entering in previous years, enter now!

On June 23 at 6:00 p.m. PT, the California Pool & Spa Association (CPSA) is hosting a Virtual Town Hall on the California Drought in 2022: Where We Are, Where We're Going, and What YOU Can Do to Help Defend Our Industry. California is under worsening drought conditions that, as we are beginning to see, if left uncontested, will lead to actions by local municipalities that will negatively affect the pool, spa, and hot tub industry as well as consumers. CPSA is actively engaged in combatting the misinformation that leads to bad legislative decisions, but this is a large-scale battle, and we ALL must work together, armed with facts and information, to educate our local lawmakers.

C201: GENESIS® CONSTRUCTION SCHOOL: Concrete Pools is the only program that satisfies the education requirement to sit for the Certified Builder Professional (CBP) exam. C201 students will spend four nights with a team of expert faculty, learning all of the necessary disciplines for building a structurally sound water vessel. Our next virtual C201 offering is July 25-28 with instructors Terry Brannon, P.E.; Travis Bozick, P.E.; Greg Andrews; Tom Dankel; Randy Dukes; and Rocky Wisley. Register today!

GENESIS® is offering its second Advanced Builder Workshop, taking place virtually September 19-22. Take two courses in just one week to gain a deeper understanding of pool construction and engineering. C410: Advanced Pool Construction and E245: Standards, Codes, and Ordinances are both required courses for continuing on the PHTA Certified Pool Builder & Design Pathway.

STANDARDS AND CODES

Mark Trapani, PHTA-10 Standard Writing Committee Chair, recently wrote an article published in the ICC Building Safety Journal. The article gives background information on the ANSI/PHTA/ICC-10 2021 American National Standard for Elevated Pools, Spas and Other Aquatic Venues Integrated into a Building or Structure; explains why this new standard is important to not just pool builders but architects, engineers, facility managers, code inspectors, and code officials; and where to go to learn more about PHTA-10.

PHTA codes staff provided testimony on June 9 in Boston on a pool-related proposal for the National Electrical Code. The proposal will now be reviewed by the relevant code-making panel, with PHTA providing additional feedback.

PHTA codes staff assisted a member in permitting questions for a pool project in Indiana.
