ADVOCACY
Last week, the Department of Energy issued a pre-publication notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) for energy standards for pool heaters, along with a public meeting and request for comment. The public meeting will be held via webinar on May 4, and comments will be due by the end of May. PHTA is engaging the DOE under a subset of our Energy Coalition. PHTA will attend the webinar and continue to work with PHTA members to respond collectively to the request for comment.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing amendments to its occupational injury and illness recordkeeping regulation, 29 CFR 1904.41. The present regulation requires specific employers to electronically submit injury and illness information (that they are required to keep) to OSHA. The agency then utilizes these reports to identify and respond to emerging hazards and makes aspects of the information available to the public.
Check out the latest decarb action that your local city or county council considered this past week. Please see the latest report to find out what has been happening in cities and counties nationwide so far in 2022.
PHTA now has a draft city/county decarbonization letter to assist you with advocacy to your local municipal and county council meetings to request reconsideration of a ban or ask for exemption from a ban under consideration for natural gas. The letter is formatted as a Microsoft Word document and can be downloaded from the PHTA website. You can easily repurpose and modify the letter specific to your local municipal or county council.
