EDUCATION AND EVENTS
There's still time to register for the 2021 World Aquatic Health Conference! This year's conference kicks off with Paralympian Jessica Long delivering the keynote presentation at 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 7. Then, stick around for three afternoons full of the information you need to successfully operate an aquatics facility, from improving water quality to managing your employees. All sessions will be available to watch on-demand through January 21.
Join Health Specialist John Mason on Monday, December 6 for a new program: Considerations for a Successful Pool Construction Plan Review. John will help you prepare the goals of a public health plan review, discuss tips for working with designers and builders, and define objectives for designing a useful and usable pool/spa/wader. You can bundle your registration for this course with your WAHC registration, or sign up separately.
Interested in becoming a CPO (Certified Pool & Spa Operator) Instructor? Plan ahead for 2022 with our virtual and in-person PHTA Instructor Assessment Schools. The next virtual school will be April 11-15, 2022. There will also be an in-person school October 10-12, 2022.
If you currently hold one or more of the following PHTA certifications and have a 2021 expiration date, you have until December 31 to complete your recertification! – CBP – CMS – CST – CSP – CPI – CHTT – CRP In order to maintain your status as a PHTA-certified individual, you must submit a completed recertification application along with documentation of 24 hours of continuing education credits (CEUs).

STANDARDS AND CODES
The RWQC will meet today from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. Topics to be covered include Fact Sheets/AQUA Tech Notes articles; revisions to PHTA-2, PHTA-11, and PHTA-15 Standards; IAPMO Pool Code; an update from PHTA staff; and more. This is an open meeting. The inaugural meeting of the PHTA-4 Standard Writing Committee (SWC) for aboveground/onground residential swimming pools will be held this Friday, December 3. Storable pools in a Provisional Amendment (PA) to ANSI/APSP/ICC-16 2017 American National Standard on Suction Outlet Fitting Assemblies (SOFA) for Use in Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs, drowning reports, entrapment research, and more will be discussed.
