PHTA UPDATES
Thank you to Claffey Pools and Swimming Pool Services, Inc. for their generous donations to Step Into Swim! We are so appreciative of their support. 100% of donations go directly to learn-to-swim programs, giving more children the chance to attend swimming lessons and learn this lifesaving skill. Interested in helping Step Into Swim save lives through swimming lessons? PHTA is encouraging our builder, installer, and service members to pledge money for each pool you build or each maintenance contract you have in 2021. PHTA will then match 100% of all donations up to a total of $500,000. Fill out the commitment form linked below and make the pledge to save lives.
    You have 2 DAYS LEFT to submit your best work for the PHTA Awards of Excellence. The deadline is this Friday, July 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Award categories include Residential Pools, Commercial Pools, Pool Ingenuity, and Hot Tubs and Swim Spas.
The Chapter of the Year Award recognizes one outstanding chapter that has set a stellar example for the organization, advancing and enhancing the profession through strong leadership, community outreach, and providing their members with the highest quality of programs, activities, and services. Nominees must meet the following criteria: –Chapter is committed to the pool, hot tub, and spa industry and is a champion for PHTA. –Chapter must be a current PHTA chapter and has updated the chapter name and all necessary documents to reflect “PHTA” (no longer APSP). –Chapter can demonstrate membership growth and/or engagement over the past 12 months. –Chapter leaders engage at the national and local level on issues affecting the industry. The 2021 Chapter of the Year nomination deadline is August 27.
EDUCATION AND EVENTS
 The World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC) is the industry's leading educational conference on aquatics. Celebrating its 18th year, WAHC 2021 will continue the tradition of disseminating cutting-edge science relevant to all segments of the pool and spa market. Join us on October 13-15 to experience cutting-edge aquatic research presented by industry experts across the globe and network with like-minded professionals, industry leaders, and experts.
MEMBERSHIP
The myPHTA Online Community is a place to connect and network with other professionals in the pool and hot tub industry. We have an Open Forum where all PHTA members can communicate with each other, as well as 30 additional communities for our councils, committees, and other groups. Log in to myPHTA to particpate in the 100+ discussions covering topics from human resources and business best practices to updated standards and codes, and much more.
ADVOCACY
The PHTA Government Relations team monitors state and local legislation as well as rulemaking nationwide, advocating around the country for legislation and rulemaking that benefits PHTA and its members. Priority issues surround the adoption of the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC), Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency via adoption of the APSP-14 Standard, Licensing/Certification/Training, Pool & Hot Tub Safety and Education, Prop 65 in California, as well as other areas. He was part of our industry for over 35 years and played an integral role in helping PHTA fight the bonding grid issue in North Carolina. Brian was an active member of the North Carolina Chapter.
