The Young Professional of the Year Award is a peer-nominated award recognizing a forward-thinking leader under the age of 40 who will be the voice and next generation of pool and spa professionals. Nominees must meet the following criteria: –Nominee is committed to being a positive role model for the profession and peers. –Nominee is currently under the age of 40. –Nominee has been employed in the pool, hot tub, or spa industry for at least three years. –Nominee actively participates with PHTA at a local or national level. –Nominee is a current employee of a PHTA member company in good standing. The 2021 Young Professional of the Year nomination deadline is August 27.
EDUCATION AND EVENTS
Join the California Pool & Spa Association (CPSA) on Tuesday, July 13, at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT for a virtual town hall meeting, The California Drought: Where We Are, Where We're Going, and What YOU Can Do to Help Defend Our Industry. We will discuss ways to combat the misinformation regarding water usage by pools, spas, and hot tubs; resources for our industry; resources for consumers; and what you can do to help.
Join PHTA to celebrate the best of the best in the pool and hot tub industry! On November 15, as part of the PSP/Deck Expo, we will be honoring the recipients of the 2021 International Awards of Excellence, one of the largest, most well-renowned design competitions in the pool and hot tub industry. We will also recognize the Builder of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Service Professional of the Year, and Young Professional of the Year. Please plan to join us for this exciting event.

ADVOCACY
The PHTA Government Relations team monitors state and local legislation as well as rulemaking nationwide, advocating around the country for legislation and rulemaking that benefits PHTA and its members. Priority issues surround the adoption of the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC), Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency via adoption of the APSP-14 Standard, Licensing/Certification/Training, Pool & Hot Tub Safety and Education, Prop 65 in California, as well as other areas. The following are a few highlights:
*Code Update: PHTA submitted eight public comments on proposals during the current ICC code cycle. These comments were reviewed by PHTA members and approved by the PHTA Technical Committee. The ICC Public Comment Hearings will be held in September in Pittsburgh with PHTA staff and member participation. U.S. Chamber of Commerce New polling data released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce shows hiring bonuses are an effective instrument to encourage more Americans to return to work. The survey also reveals other impactful solutions that can be deployed to address the worker shortage. Forbes Resilient supply chains are critical to business.
