We know our members have done great work this year! Submissions to the PHTA Awards of Excellence are due July 7. PHTA’s Awards of Excellence program has a robust category list, from residential concrete pools to commercial competition pools, portable hot tubs to swim spas, achievements in engineering, and many others. The Service Professional of the Year Award is a peer-nominated award given annually to one PHTA service member who has advanced the service profession through outstanding achievements and dedication to the industry. Nominees must meet the following criteria: --Nominee is committed to being a positive role model for the profession and peers. --Nominee must have proven track record of meeting or exceeding industry standards in service. --Nominee has been employed in the pool, hot tub, or spa industry for at least five years. --Nominee actively participates with PHTA at a local or national level. --Nominee is a current employee of a PHTA member company in good standing. The 2021 Service Professional of the Year nomination deadline is August 27.

The update will be implemented as a rolling change, and as new drain covers arrive, installers will receive more information with them. ADVOCACY
The PHTA Government Relations team continues to press on, monitoring state and local legislation as well as rulemaking nationwide. With 48 state legislatures meeting this week, the GR team is currently advocating in 20 states around the country, lobbying for legislation and rulemaking that benefits PHTA and its members. Priority issues surround the adoption of the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC), Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency via adoption of the APSP-14 Standard, Licensing/Certification/Training, Pool & Hot Tub Safety and Education, Prop 65 in California, as well as other areas.
