The 12th Annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL) event will take place on Thursday, June 17. The 2021 WLSL will offer hundreds of aquatic centers, swim schools, and waterparks the chance to focus in on the urgency of getting kids back in the water for formal swim lessons to help make up for the lessons and water safety training they missed in 2020. Since its inception in 2010, more than 320,000 children and adults have participated in life-saving WLSL lessons, generating more than 2 billion media impressions about the vital importance of learning to swim. EDUCATION AND EVENTS
Join us on Wednesday, June 30 for our next webinar. The Virginia Graeme Baker Act (VGBA) standard for drain covers has changed, which means new information is available for pool professionals. The update will be implemented as a rolling change, and as new drain covers arrive, installers will receive more information with them. Join this webinar to get up to speed on what's changed and take advantage of the opportunity to have questions answered by a subject matter expert. This webinar is FREE for members. Please email education@phta.org for the discount code.
Want to learn more about splash pads, lazy rivers, wave pools, and other water park attractions? Stop by the Commercial Education Pavilion during the PSP/Deck Expo in November to participate in these two GENESIS® sessions: --C352: Splash Pad Construction --E312: Understanding Water Current We look forward to seeing you there!
During the PSP/Deck Expo in November, PHTA will be leading an education session on the new DPPP regulations going into effect this July. This new federal regulation eliminates the poorest-performing pool pumps from the market. Compared to other home energy items, pool pumps are often cited as the second-highest home energy usage, followed by heating and cooling systems. As many homeowners wish to save energy and reduce their energy expenses, purchasing energy-efficient products, including pool pumps, allows consumers to benefit from ENERGY STAR rebates and long-term energy savings. Attendees of this session will review information on the US Department of Energy (DOE) pool pump regulations and effectively address this issue with their customers.
It's officially busy season! We know it can be hard to find the time for continuing education, so PHTA and GENESIS® have made it easy for you to learn on your own schedule. We have a wide variety of online, on-demand courses available, from certification training to GENESIS® construction and engineering courses to programs on water quality and regulations.
