EDUCATION AND EVENTS
Looking through a magazine of pools, it is easy to find well-conceived plans that failed to unify the design with proper material and color selections. Color is one of our basic means of communication and it influences our emotions, so it must be understood and controlled. D231: Color Theory and Its Application introduces the basic dynamics of color, its principles, fundamentals, its psychology, and how to apply the science to project design. Class begins next Tuesday, June 8. Register today!
PHTA is thrilled to have Jessica Long, one of America's most decorated Paralympic champions, as our keynote speaker at the World Aquatic Health Conference this October! Jessica’s life has been nothing short of amazing. Born to a teenage mother in the Siberia cold, burdened by congenital defects in her legs, and placed for adoption at 13 months old, Jessica was able to persevere to become one of the most decorated female athletes in US history. Hear her share her story when you attend WAHC, October 13-15 in Houston, TX. Want to stay on top of all the latest WAHC updates? Sign up here.

The PHTA Government Relations team continues to press on, monitoring state and local legislation as well as rulemaking nationwide. With 48 state legislatures meeting this week, the GR team is currently advocating in 20 states around the country, lobbying for legislation and rulemaking that benefits PHTA and its members. Priority issues surround the adoption of the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC), Portable Electric Spa Energy Efficiency via adoption of the APSP-14 Standard, Licensing/Certification/Training, Pool & Hot Tub Safety and Education, Prop 65 in California, as well as other areas. The following are a few highlights:
*Code Update: The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development has adopted an updated version of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. The state-specific amendments to the ISPSC include additional language on shower requirements.
