USP Lunch n' Learn - The Agent Perspective

Lisa Freitag, Damage Prevention Associate, Utility Safety Partners

“Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life”.  I’m sure most of us have heard this expression.  As we struggle to maintain a work/life balance, it can seem an unattainable goal.

Many companies I have worked for put energy into engagement. Creative ways to build teamwork, mental stimulation, and creativity. I believe strongly in this process.  In my opinion, people want to succeed, want recognition, and want to have a sense of enjoyment and accomplishment.  If people feel appreciated and set up for success, they will become more efficient and see their jobs as part of their life instead of a responsibility.

I believe Utility Safety Partners (USP) has spent a great deal of time capturing this idea.  Our recent Lunch & Learn was hosted as a game show.  The authenticity of the interactive game show was excellent.  From the bespangled host, to the ring in buzzers and excellent prizes, the learning materials presented were high energy, positively competitive, and fun.  So much so that the team leaders were clamoring to sit in. The laughing, good-natured ribbing, and infectious energy was a wonderful approach to introducing feedback, materials review, and team bonding.

As a first-year member of USP, this engagement goes beyond the confines of the lunch and learns.  This is only one of many engagement events hosted by the leadership team.  The amount of effort and thought put into the well-being of the front-line staff is clearly a priority for the administration.  I am appreciative of the amount of effort and investment this company has in its personnel, be they recruit or veteran staff.
