Locate Request Software Improvements Launch Next Week!

On February 4, 2026, Before You Dig Partners (the BC 1 Call, Utility Safety Partners, Sask 1st Call, Click Before You Dig MB alliance) launch the next phase of improvements to the locate request software in Western Canada. This update implements tools and software features that will facilitate the locate request process and assist stakeholders in organizing and tracking locate request tickets.
What’s Changing?
Revision Numbers. Each ticket number will be followed by a 3-digit revision number. The 11-digit ticket number will stay the same throughout the lifespan of the job with ticket edits, cancellations, and relocates resulting in an increase to the 3-digit revision number.
Benefit: Stakeholders can easily track locate history via the 11-digit ticket number, even if the ticket was edited or the job site required relocates.
Multi Dig Site Mapping. Excavators will be able to map multiple work locations on a single Project, Large Project, or Planning & Design ticket.
Benefits: Excavators can provide precise work location information to facility owners and locators when jobs have multiple ground disturbances spread out over a large area. Facility owners and locators have additional location details they can use when assessing if large jobs impact their facilities.
SMS Opt-In. Excavators can opt-in to receiving text messages from responding facility owners and locators. Not all facility owners and locators will use text message communication; however, excavators can indicate they are open to receiving SMS messages.
Benefit: Additional communication options for all stakeholders.
New ticket field: Ticket Action Reason. The reason for a ticket edit is displayed in a separate field, called Ticket Action Reason.
Benefits: Stakeholders can quickly reference why a ticket was edited and where the information changed. Excavators will have additional room in the Remarks field for important work site information since ticket edit notes will be in their own separate field.
New ticket field: Job End Date. Excavators have the option of providing the date the job is expected to be completed by.
Benefit: Facility owners are aware of worksites that may still be active after an extended and are better able to schedule resources.
