Becoming a registered asset-owner company with Utility Safety Partners starts with reaching out to our member services team to start onboarding. The short, yet thorough, onboarding process provides both the registering facility company and Utility Safety Partners with detailed information pertaining to that company, as well as the proper documentation to have the account set up. This process can seem like a daunting task — but this process has been streamlined to ensure it can be completed efficiently and in a timely manner. It’s simpler than you think and we are here to help!

To begin the membership process, a new membership questionnaire form is filled in and returned to provide us information regarding the registering company. Utility Safety Partners will follow up by sending customized membership documentation for the prospective member to review and sign. This documentation includes a user agreement that outlines the services that USP will provide and what is required of USP members (for example, responding to locate requests and keeping your database current). It also requires the member to provide us with information about where to send notifications and for member representatives’ contact information (such as, who do we contact to call out an emergency locate request?).

Once the membership documentation has been executed and returned to Utility Safety Partners, we will ask for data representing the locations of the facility company’s assets. After the data has been entered into our database, a copy of that database is then returned to the prospective member to be reviewed and verified as accurate.

When the database is verified as accurate, a "go live” date will be set to determine when the facility company would like the membership activated. This date can be a preselected date in the future, or as soon as we receive the verification of data. Once active, the account is fully live in our system and the new member will start receiving locate request notifications.
